Travels to Venice and Florence (Oct. 8 - ?)

Well it's been quite a couple of busy days! Mom and I took the bus to Pineto on Tuesday and slept over at Graziano and Gabriella's place. We went with them to tour a beautiful winery and again, had an amazing meal with them. They helped us find an agency to book our bus tickets to visit Venice and Florence. We accomplished this, but the down side was that our train left from Pescara at 6 AM Wednesday morning. The only way to make it was for Graziano and Gabriella to drive us the half hour to the station. They so very graciously did this at 5 AM! We made sandwiches to take with us, got up, connected with our trains and were visiting Venice by noon.

We took backpacks with enough stuff for several days away. They were kind of heavy, but mom was a trooper and with lots of rests going through the narrow and crowded streets of Benice, we had a great day.

We caught the train to Venice at 7:30PM and made it to the hostel I booked, in decent time. The hostel is really clean and we got a private room with our own ahower and sink. Mom is already showered and in bed.

It was a long, but great day. Tomorrow we will go to see the huge statue of David, then visit the Uffizzi Gallery.

Good night all. Can't figure out how to get pics off mom'a phone. Will add them later.

  1. I'm so glad that things are going well for you and your mom. Your dad would have been so proud of you for going on this adventure and taking your mom with you. Italy was always one of his favorite countries as you well know. Enjoy! Love to you both and wishing you many more happy days. Jan
